Sr. Product Manager

New York City, NYFull TimeProduct

Senior Product Manager

Location: New York City — on-site 4 days/week, 1 day remote (typically Friday)

About the Opportunity

Our client is an early-stage, mission-driven consumer platform focused on helping young people plan and pursue their path after high school. As Senior Product Manager, you'll be the most senior product hire on the team, reporting directly to senior executive leadership, and will own product strategy end-to-end — shaping the roadmap, aligning cross-functional teams, and driving execution in close partnership with Engineering and Design.

This is a full-time, in-office role (4 days on-site), reflecting the company's tight-knit, in-person culture.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic planning: develop and evangelize product strategy, define quarterly goals and investment areas
  • Lead customer engagement: build empathy across customer types, gather insights, define problem statements and requirements
  • Facilitate solutioning with stakeholders: ideate features, validate solutions, define and track KPIs, scope work
  • Own the product roadmap: prioritize features, maintain cross-functional alignment, resolve dependencies, coordinate releases
  • Drive agile product development: lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, prioritization/estimation, write stories and acceptance criteria
  • Manage escalations: handle urgent customer/sales issues and trade-off decisions
  • Own communications: provide roadmap transparency, run product reviews, communicate tradeoffs, contribute to blog/thought-leadership content
  • Partner with Marketing on go-to-market strategy, product messaging, and sales enablement materials

What They're Looking For

  • 5–7 years of product management experience with a fast-rising trajectory — each role showing more scope and ownership
  • Strong consumer/B2C product background, ideally from a self-improvement app or subscription content product — archetypes include companies like TurboTax, Duolingo, ClassPass, Whoop, or Robin Hood
  • Experience making complex, anxiety-inducing experiences feel approachable
  • Must have worked as a full-time employee inside a company (not a consultant or contract-only background) — direct org accountability is required
  • Proven record managing end-to-end software product development in an agile environment, working closely with Design and Engineering
  • Extreme sense of ownership and passion for solving customer problems
  • Strong cross-functional alignment-building and decision-making skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar product management tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent PM experience
  • Comfortable in a startup environment; in-office presence is non-negotiable given the company's culture

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $150,000–$180,000 (stretch to $190,000 for exceptional candidates)
  • Equity eligible after Year 1
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • No work authorization or visa sponsorship provided
