Director of Ad Monetization

Location: CO, Southern CA, or NY

Their brands populate a variety of categories like Entertainment, Travel, Games and their distributed approach helps them reach 3+ million subscribers across their network serving more than 30 million monthly web sessions.

They are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Ad Monetization for their email and web publishing assets. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving revenue optimization strategies to maximize the value of our email and web inventory. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a deep understanding of web/email ad stack, AdTech, a strategic mindset, and a proven track record in ad operations within the digital media landscape.

Responsibilities Include:

Yield Strategy Development for Email and Web Inventory:

  1. Provide strategic guidance to increase ad inventory value using new insights and trends in the industry.
  2. Champion a holistic approach to improving brand quality by balancing content and ad needs.
  3. Evaluate and onboard new vendors and or demand sources
  4. Design and implement a reporting dashboard or framework to showcase valuable KPIs for senior management
  5. Develop and implement comprehensive yield management strategies specifically tailored to email/ web advertising, optimizing revenue and maximizing inventory utilization.
  6. Analyze performance metrics and subscriber engagement to refine strategies for different segments of our email audience.
  7. Champion a culture of creativity and agility, constantly seeking new ways to engage audiences and enhance brand visibility

Data Analysis and Reporting for Email Campaigns:

  1. Utilize data-driven insights to identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and implement strategies based on analysis of campaign performance.
  2. Keen understanding of experimentation or A/B test frameworks, and using a data driven approach to drive optimizations.
  3. Generate regular reports on key performance indicators specific to email and web advertising, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  4. Effectively communicate all reporting analysis to leadership teams for decisioning

Partnership and Collaboration:

  1. Collaborate closely with email marketing, product, engineering, content, and sales teams to align ad management and revenue strategies with overall business objectives.
  2. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to drive more organizational value from these relationships and stay current on industry trends and feature updates. Have built an established network of existing vendor relationships.
  3. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of yield management practices with email publishing initiatives.

Technology Integration for Email Yield Optimization:

  1. Evaluate and implement advanced yield management tools and technologies specifically focused on email and web inventory.
  2. Work closely with the technology team to integrate new tools with our email and web publishing systems.
  3. Coordinate and execute on the ad strategy and set up for new brand launches

Monetization and Revenue Diversification:

  1. Identify and implement strategies for diversifying revenue streams within the email and web publishing domains.
  2. Manage a growing portfolio of brands across a diversified range of content
  3. Explore new monetization opportunities and partnerships to enhance overall yield.

Risk Management in Email and Web Advertising:

  1. Proactively identify potential risks associated with email and web advertising and develop contingency plans to mitigate challenges.
  2. Stay informed about email and web compliance regulations and industry developments affecting yield management.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in ad management
  • Proven experience in email and web advertising, yield management, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage up to senior management showing clear goals and timelines
  • Ability to aggregate week over week, month over month and year over year data to showcase KPIs and actionable analysis
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration and communication
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills specific to email advertising.
  • In-depth knowledge of the email publishing landscape and industry trends.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
