Our client is one of the largest local news platforms in the US & defines a new way for users to engage with local news. They help a new generation of readers find and engage with vital, locally published content and information. They are expanding their team and looking for a detail-oriented Communications Manager to join their team.

 

Responsibilities:

•                    Develop and execute a communication strategy to make local information widely accessible, supporting safer and more connected lives.

•                    Direct the company’s social media approach, ensuring an active and engaging presence on multiple platforms, such as our Facebook page and LinkedIn.

•                    Create communication materials—press releases, blog posts, newsletters, and social media content—to highlight the company’s value to 20,000+ local communities.

•                    Handle media relations tasks, including pitching stories, managing press requests, and cultivating connections with key journalists and industry influencers.

•                    Partner with PR firms for strategic insights and enhanced communication impact.

•                    Collaborate with teams (engineering, product, BD/partnerships, sales, leadership) for consistent messaging and branding.

•                    Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to spot opportunities and challenges.

 

Qualifications:

•                    Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a similar field.

•                    Over 3 years in a communication position, preferably in tech, with a history of successful strategy execution.

•                    Proven background in media relations, with a robust network and expertise in pitching stories and managing press engagements.

•                    Demonstrates initiative and responsibility with a proactive approach to resolving issues and delivering results.

•                    Outstanding written and spoken communication abilities, capable of conveying intricate information clearly to varied audiences.

•                    Innovative with a keen eye for detail and strong analytical capabilities for evaluating and refining campaign effectiveness.

•                    Excels in a fast-moving environment, juggling multiple tasks while working autonomously and in team settings.
